    GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – A truck carrying dozens of pigs was involved in a crash on Interstate 70 in the mountains on Monday.(credit: Colorado Department of Transportation)

  • Air Force Academy Cadet Charged With Abusive Sexual Conduct

    AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) — A senior at the Air Force Academy has been charged with abusive sexual conduct and possessing child pornography.
    Academy officials say cadet Jacob Cook faces a military trial on the charges starting Tuesday.
    He is also charged with taking cellphone images of civilians without their permission.
    Cook did not immediately respond to a request for comment left with the academy’s public affairs office.

  • Erratic Winds Spread Small Lightning-Caused Fire In Colorado

    MAYBELL, Colo. (AP) — A lightning-caused wildfire in northwestern Colorado is threatening some structures as erratic winds push the flames in multiple directions.
    Fire managers said Monday the Pine Tree Fire has burned about 7 square miles in grassland, sagebrush and small trees. It started Saturday.

    GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4)– Two girls who were found dead were apparently killed weeks before their bodies were found.
    Authorities discovered the bodies of two girls between the ages of 5 and 10 years old Friday in a farm near the small town of Norwood, 33 miles west of Telluride.

  • Six-Car Crash In Arvada Claims Two Lives, Injures At Least 3 Others

    ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) – Two people are dead following a six-car crash on Ward Road that police say involves a DUI driver.
    Three other people have been transported from the scene to hospitals with serious injuries, Arvada Police Department spokesperson Jill McGranahan says.
    Ward Road will be closed for several hours between 58th Avenue and 64th Avenue as police conduct an investigation.
    The accident occurred at Ward Road and 61st Avenue.

    MAYBELL, Colo. (CBS4) – Crews from several departments responded Saturday afternoon to confront another wildfire burning in northwestern Colorado.
    “The fire grew rapidly, due to weather conditions and topography,” wrote a spokesperson with the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office in a department Facebook post.

  • 1 Killed In Homicide, Survivor In Hospital

    ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – One person was killed Saturday night in what police are calling homicide, though details of the incident have not been released.
    Deputies were called to 6798 Irving Street early this morning. One person was declared deceased and another was transported to the hospital.
