• Sunshine Canyon Fire Evacuee Lends A Helping Hand

    BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – The East Boulder Community Center is serving as the evacuation center for the Sunshine Canyon Fire. Red Cross volunteers were there with food and water for evacuees, including small pets.
    A 2-year-old cat named Lorenzo isn’t a fan of the place.
    “He’s in there complaining loudly,” Lorenzo’s owner Belle Star said.

    BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – A wildfire has forced the evacuation of 1,031 homes in Boulder.
    Someone spotted the fire on a hillside near Sunshine Canyon and Timber Lane at 1:40 a.m. Sunday.

    DENVER (CBS4) – Police in Denver are searching for a teenage suspect in the fatal assault of a man early Saturday morning.
    According to police, David Earl Nowlin, 46, was assaulted in the 1900 block of North Wabash Street just after 2:30 a.m.

  • Xcel Energy Warns About “Distraction Scam’ Involving Fake Workers

    DENVER, Colo. (CBS4) – Xcel Energy is warning residents of a door-to-door scam in Denver and Arapahoe counties.
    At least 16 reports of an outlet scam have come in to local law enforcement agencies within the last few days, according to Mark Stutz, spokesperson for Xcel Energy.
    Stutz said that two men posing as power company workers had been asking residents to let them inside to check the voltage on power outlets.
