• Young Army Private Dies After Snowboarding Crash At Buttermilk Mountain

    ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) – A U.S. Army private has died after an accident while snowboarding at Buttermilk Mountain in February.
    According to authorities, Andrew Garcia, 20, of Fort Sill, Oklahoma died on Feb. 23 after suffering multiple skull fractures and other various serious injuries while on the slopes on Feb. 19.
    Garcia reportedly hit a tree and wasn’t wearing a helmet.
    Ten people have died at Colorado ski resorts this season, including four at Breckenridge.

    BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) – Police and K-9 officers searched an open space in Broomfield for hours on Monday, looking for Marine veteran Cory Hixson who was last seen on Saturday evening. The search was called off when the Weld County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he was in their custody.

    CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)– A Colorado teenager who pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter in the deadly crash that claimed the lives of two women was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Monday afternoon.
    Taden Jones, 19, took a plea deal at the Arapahoe County Courthouse in Centennial in January. Jones was driving when he struck and killed Carolyn Burton and Gayle Buckwalter in April 2016 in a drunk driving crash.

    DENVER (AP) — The nation’s most generous grow-your-own pot laws are closer to being curbed in Colorado, where the state House advanced a pair of bills Monday aimed at cracking down on people who grow weed outside the commercial, taxed system.
