    DENVER (CBS4)– A legal secretary with the Denver District Attorney’s Office has been disciplined after making an error that caused a misdemeanor child abuse case to be dismissed.
    Teresa McKisson accidentally sent a subpoena in the case to the wrong person, so the witness who was supposed to testify never received their subpoena, didn’t show up to testify and the case had to be dropped.

    Fire On Eastern Plains That Claimed Nearly 200 Cattle Fully Contained
    HAXTUN, Colo. (AP) — Firefighters have contained a grass fire that destroyed four homes and left about 200 head of cattle dead on the plains of northeastern Colorado.
    Logan County spokeswoman Marilee Johnson says crews completed containment lines around the fire on Wednesday but were still working to extinguish hot spots, including hay bales.

    ASHEBORO, N.C. (AP) — Officials at the North Carolina Zoo say their 9-year-old giraffe, Jamili, has died after it became entangled in some equipment.
    The zoo said in a new release that keepers at the zoo in Asheville found Jamili early Tuesday in her behind-the-scenes living quarters.
