    Jefferson County To Host Meeting About Proposed Public Shooting Range
    ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) – Jefferson County will be hosting a community meeting on a proposed public shooting range on Tuesday.
    The county has been working on the plan since 2014. They want to put the shooting range in Arvada near Highway 93 and 82nd Avenue.
    The county will unveil a design for the range as well as the results of a recent noise study.
    The meeting is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Ralston Valley High School in Arvada.

    PEETZ, Colo. (CBS4) – A tornado touched down near the northeastern Colorado town of Peetz in Logan County Monday afternoon.
    CBS4 viewer Jason Hawley captured video of the tornado that was reportedly on the ground for approximately 15 minutes.

    According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, there were three confirmed tornado touchdowns in the county.

    Logan County officials said a tornado touched down near Peetz  Monday afternoon and destroyed a barn and damaged a home.

    Former USGA president Will Nicholson Jr. dies at 87
    Longtime Denver resident Will Nicholson Jr., one of just three Coloradans to have served as president of the United States Golf Association, has died. He was 87.
    Nicholson served as USGA president from 1980-81 and was selected to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame.
    The other Coloradans that have held the USGA presidency are Frank Woodward of Denver in 1915-16 and Judy Bell of Colorado Springs in 1996-97.

    BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – Isaac Mukundi won the Bolder Boulder 10-kilmeter race Monday as he led Kenya to the international team crown.
    The women also captured the team title to give the country its second sweep at one of the nation’s largest road races.
    The Kenyans also won both team titles in 2001.

    FORT CARSON, Colo. (CBS4) – Two soldiers at Fort Carson helped honor their fallen brothers and sisters on Memorial Day with a music video called “I’m Gonna Miss You.”
    The singing soldiers are members of a band. They said if they reached 100,000 views on YouTube they’d donate to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.
    The video has been watched more than 220,000 times. The group also got a separate $25,000 donation. They say all proceeds will go to the foundation

    Driver Killed In Single Rollover Crash In West Denver
    DENVER (CBS4) – A man was killed in a rollover crash in Denver early Monday morning.
    Police say a man driving south on Knox Court rolled his SUV and crashed at West 12th Avenue. He may have gone over a median, hit a sign and then a tree. The SUV ended up in a home’s front yard.

    The driver, whose name hasn’t been released, was thrown from the SUV. Nobody else was inside.
    Police say excessive speed was a factor in the crash.

    2 Horses Euthanized After Trailer Crash On Highway 14
    WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A pickup truck collided with a horse trailer on Highway 14 east of Briggsdale Monday morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
    The trailer was carrying horses and llamas. The State Patrol said two horses had to be euthanized because of the crash.
    A man was also flown to the Medical Center of the Rockies with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
    It’s not clear what caused the crash.

    Eagle River Fire Protection District firefighters saved a kitten that was trapped underground in a utility vault. Crews don’t know how the kitten got in there or how long she’d been stuck.Eagle County Animal Services checked out the kitty to make sure she was okay.
