  NEW YORK (AP) — Global travel spending is still growing, although at a slower pace, despite weakening economies and fears over terrorism.
  The World Travel and Tourism Council, a group backed by travel providers with the mission to promote tourism, said in a report Monday that global travel spending for 2016 is expected to grow by 3.1 percent. That is down from a March forecast of 3.3 percent but still outpacing global economic growth, which the group expects to be 2.3 percent.

  WASHINGTON (AP) — Traffic fatalities were up 9 percent in the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year, continuing a surge in deaths that began two years ago as the economy improved and travel picked up, according to preliminary estimates released Tuesday by the National Safety Council.

  WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — It took 74 years, but one Rhode Island World War II soldier is finally being laid to rest at home.
  Army Capt. Elwood J. Euart of Pawtucket had been previously lost and unaccounted-for since October of 1942.

  South Broadway Park is now known as Willie Castillo Park.
  Castillo, a marine, earned the Navy Cross for saving lives during a 1969 battle in Vietnam.
  Castillo grew up in the South Broadway neighborhood and returned there after the war.
  He died of a heart attack two years ago.
