  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento City Unified School District is preparing replacement instructors in case teachers go on strike.
  District officials confirmed that potential replacement teachers are getting paid $200 to attend meetings. The replacements would be paid $500 per day if a strike does indeed happen, the district says.

  LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles prosecutors are joining other California district attorneys to tap technology that could wipe out or reduce more than 50,000 old marijuana convictions.

• Woman Accused Of Embezzling Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars From Auburn Business

  AUBURN (CBS13) – An Alta woman is facing embezzlement charges after detectives say she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from a local business.
  The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year-old Amber Jenny Clark was arrested last Tuesday by the department’s property crimes detectives. Clark had been under investigation after funds had been found missing from an unnamed business in Auburn.

• California Wants To Aim Lasers At Snowpack To Better Predict Runoff

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Lawmakers are considering spending $150 million to fund new high-tech measurements of the snowpack using lasers.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Starting Monday, sales tax in 51 California cities – including four in the Sacramento area – is increasing.
  Sacramento, West Sacramento, Roseville and Lodi will see new rates.

  PLACERVILLE (CBS13) – Two people were taken to the hospital after a plane crashed at the Placerville Airport.
  The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department said a single-engine plane crashed Sunday afternoon.
  Both the pilot and passenger got themselves out of the wreckage, deputies say. The two were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

  Lodi Fire crews got to the scene around 2:30 a.m. on North School Street and found flames coming from inside New Wave Innovations.
  Firefighters called for support because the fire was burning in multiple spots inside the building.
