• Vote Centers Start Opening Saturday In Sacramento County

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Some Vote Centers open Saturday in Sacramento County as part of the county’s participation in the Voter’s Choice Act.
  Voters in the county can turn in their ballots at the Vote Centers starting May 26 through Primary Day June 5, 2018.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) California passed the Voter’s Choice Act in 2016 and five counties adopted the Act for the 2018 Primary Election- Sacramento, Nevada, Napa, Madera, and San Mateo.
  Every registered voter in those counties will get a mail-in ballot 28 days before the election. Voters will have the option to drop those mail-in ballots off in drop boxes county-wide, or use them at Vote Centers.

• Traffic Congestion Leading To Major Construction Project On I-80

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Caltrans plans to do major construction on I-80 from Davis to Sacramento in order to deal with the major traffic congestion along that stretch.
  The project will cover Interstate 80 from Kidwell Road just west of Davis to West El Camino in Sacramento, including Business 80 (Highway 50) to the I-5 Interchange in Sacramento.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Using new technology, police are trying to solve a cold case homicide from 2001.
  The Sacramento Police Department says the remains of a woman were found after a dumpster fire near 18th Avenue and Power Inn Road back on June 29, 2001. Initial autopsy results revealed that the remains were likely that of a woman in her late teens to mid-twenties.

• Majority of California Voters Support Gas Tax Repeal

  LOS ANGELES (CBS13) – A majority of California voters say they would support a gas tax repeal, according to a new USC Dornsife/LA Times Poll.
  51% of registered voters said they would vote to repeal SB 1; 38% said they are in favor of keeping the law.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Detectives are investigating after the body of a man was found along a river trail Friday morning.

• Memorial Auditorium Construction Project Starts In June

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento’s Memorial Auditorium is being renovated and construction starts in late June.
  The construction work is expected to be done in the Summer of 2019- just before Broadway on Tour temporarily moves its production to the historic building while the Community Center Theater is renovated.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Jibboom Street Bridge is scheduled to reopen several days ahead of schedule, city officials say.
  According to the City of Sacramento, the bridge will be reopening on Saturday. It was originally scheduled to reopen after Memorial Day weekend.
  The bridge has been closed since the beginning of January so that workers could rehabilitate the structure, which was originally built in 1931. Workers have been busy replacing the metal decking and repainting the whole bridge.
