• Sacramento Settles Police Beating Lawsuit, Will Pay Man $550K

    SACRAMENTO (AP) – Sacramento has agreed to reform its policing practices and pay a black man $550,000 after a police officer threw him to the ground and repeatedly punched his face.
    Nandi Cain’s lawyers announced the tentative settlement Friday. Cain had sued Sacramento, California, saying he was targeted because of his race.

  • Pair Accused Of Stealing From Elk Grove Hobby Lobby, Threatening Employee With Stun Gun

    ELK GROVE (CBS13) – Officers have arrested a man and a woman who robbed a Hobby Lobby store in Elk Grove.
    The incident happened Monday afternoon near E. Stockton Boulevard and Bond Road.
    Elk Grove police say an employee at Hobby Lobby spotted two suspected shoplifters and confronted them. However, one of the suspects then pulled out a stun gun – allegedly threatening the employee.

    MARYSVILLE (CBS13) – The latest on the police activity in Marysville:
    7:39 a.m.
    Authorities in Marysville say they are investigating an officer-involved shooting.
    According to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, the incident started as an attempted traffic stop in Wheatland. The suspect took off and made his way to Marysville.

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — A Fairfield man is in the hospital after being beaten up by a group of teens.
    It happened Tuesday at the Allen Whitt Skate Park, and police are still looking for the attackers. The victim is recovering from surgery and says the fight started after he tried to stop another one from breaking out.
