• DUI Suspect Crashes Head-On, Kills 2 Nevada Union Students On Spring Break

    LOS BANOS (CBS13) – Two Nevada Union High School students were killed, and another injured, while heading out on spring break over the weekend.
    The incident happened just before noon on Sunday.
    California Highway Patrol’s Los Banos division says a 21-year-old woman from San Jose was heading north on Interstate 5, near State Route 165. At some point, she appears to have crossed over the center divide and crashed into a car heading south head-on.

    SQUAW VALLEY (CBS13) – Two people suffer severe burns in a fire and explosion at Squaw Valley.
    The fire and explosion happened on March 17.
    It appears that two people, a man and a woman, were doing routine house cleaning for a rental property in Squaw Valley. According to a GoFundMe page set up for the two injured people, the woman had just put some towels in a dryer when a loud explosion occured.

  • Police: Man Dies After Car In Suspected Street Race Crashes Into Him

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – A man has died after he was struck by a car suspected of street racing in Stockton, police say.
    The incident happened Sunday just before 5 p.m.
    Stockton police say two cars were apparently racing each other along California Street. Near Oak Street, one of the racing cars crashed into another car heading east on the cross street.
    Two people inside the suspect car took off running. The man inside the other car was taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – An attorney for the family of Stephon Clark is expected to make an announcement Monday morning.
    Clark was the unarmed man shot and killed by police in Sacramento one week ago.

  • Crews Work To Fix Sagging Marysville Train Trestle

    MARYSVILLE  (CBS13) — Emergency repairs being made to an unstable trestle in Marysville.
    It’s happening along a bridge right above the Yuba River.
    A spokeswoman for Union Pacific tells CBS13 a bridge instructor first noticed a dip in one of the trestles on Thursday.
    There’s a pipe below that trestle which contains diesel fuel, prompting a big turnout of emergency crews.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Rev. Al Sharpton says he plans to attend Thursday’s funeral for an unarmed black man shot to death by Sacramento police officers who say they thought he was holding a gun that turned out to be a cellphone.
