• Strong Pacific Storm Headed Our Way

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — A strong Pacific storm heading toward California will likely bring an extended period of rain and the threat of flooding and debris flows in areas near wildfire burn scars, forecasters said Monday.
    The system, known as an atmospheric river, was tapping into a deep plume of subtropical moisture that could bring the highest rainfall totals of the season for southwestern parts of the state, the National Weather Service said.

    HERCULES (CBS13) – The search is on for the person who shot a five-year-old and her mother in an East Bay road rage incident. The girl is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.

  • Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves Suspect Dead In South Sacramento

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting Sunday night in South Sacramento that left one suspect dead.
    The shooting happened Sunday night in the 7500 block of 29th Street. An officer shot a male suspect who has died from his injuries, according to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department.
    *Update: SPD is on scene of an officer involved shooting in the 7500 block of 29th Street. No officers injured during this incident. The male suspect is deceased.
  • Local Pilot Survives Crash After Clipping Power Line

    YUBA COUNTY (CBS13) — A local pilot is recovering at the UC Davis Medical Center after a fiery plane crash.
    It happened Sunday morning along the Yuba River, just East of Marysville.
    The pilot, 66-year old Timothy Bennett, was on a scenic flight path when he flew into a power line.  Two California Highway Patrol flight officers responded to the scene and rescued Bennett.

  • Sacramento’s JFK High School Getting Extra Police Patrols Monday

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Extra Police will be patrolling John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento on Monday after the Bomb scare and shooting threat on Friday forced evacuations.
    The Sacramento Unified School District tells CBS13 a social media post over the weekend showing someone with a gun.  The post had some parents thinking it was another threat, but Sacramento Police determined there was no second threat, however that post lead to two arrests and the discovery of illegal guns.
