    DENVER (CBS4)– Archaeologists have unearthed artifacts thousands of years old in Golden, and they’re asking the public to help them find more.
    The historical digs are happening on Magic Mountain not far from Heritage Square Amusement Park. Researchers with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and Paleocultural Research Group have teamed up with volunteers to discover hidden items, including tools, fireplaces, even homes.

    BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)– The University of Colorado says it not longer needs an exemption from the City of Boulder’s tax on sugary drinks.
    CU had requested more time to adapt to the two cents per ounce tax because it estimated it would cost the campus $1 million the first year. Now the school says that was a miscalculation and will actually lose $200,000.

    AURORA, Colo. (AP) — A judge has sentenced an Aurora man to 72 years in prison for beating his 84-year-old grandfather to death.
    Arapahoe County District Judge Phillip Douglass handed down the sentence on Friday, saying 34-year-old Jason Vanbommel was unremorseful over the December 2015 death of Frans Vanbommel.Douglass told Jason Vanbommel there isn’t room in a civilized society who believes this was acceptable.

    TOKYO (AP) — Seven Navy sailors are missing and one was injured after a U.S. destroyer collided early Saturday morning with a merchant ship off the coast of Japan, the country’s coast guard reported.

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — Officials say actress Carrie Fisher died from sleep apnea and a combination of other factors, but they could not conclusively determine what caused her death.
