    DEER TRAIL, Colo. (CBS4)– Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Deer Trail were closed Tuesday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed.

    LIVERMORE, Colo. (AP) — Investigators have confirmed that lightning started a 350-acre wildfire burning near the Colorado-Wyoming border.
    The Starwood Fire broke out Sunday afternoon after storms moved through the area west of U.S. Highway 287. It grew quickly in dry, windy weather but was 35 percent contained Tuesday.

    DENVER (CBS4) – Firefighters had to act fast to save a dog that fell down a water access line.
    The dog went into the hole, which is approximately five-feet-deep, in the area of 8th Avenue and Lipan Street in Denver.
    Despite its owners trying, they weren’t able to get him out.

    GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management is considering leasing nearly 28,000 acres of land for oil and gas drilling in the Granby area near the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.

    YouReporter David Brenowitz captured video on Monday of helicopter crews taking down the alpine slide at Heritage Square.
    The slide debuted at the amusement park in 1979. It closed last October, but it wasn’t until this week that the slide was removed from the hillside.
