  STORRS, Conn. (AP) – The University of Connecticut has broken ground for a new $95 million engineering and science building.
  Gov. Dannel P. Malloy joined UConn president Susan Herbst and other dignitaries for the Wednesday ceremony at the site of the planned 118,000-square-foot building.
  It is designed to house laboratories for UConn’s genomics, biomedical, chemical engineering, and cyber system research programs.

  WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) – Transit police are investigating the death of a man who was struck by a Metro-North train in Westport.
  Metro-North officials say the man was trespassing on the tracks when he was hit by a New Haven-bound train shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

  NEW HARTFORD –  State police confirmed the body found Sunday in Brodie Pond was that of a woman who went missing in January.
  State police said Wednesday they identified the woman as Patricia Cole, 53, of New Hartford. Cole disappeared while kayaking on New Year’s Day on Brodie Pond on West Hill Road and a friend reported her missing the next morning. • Body Found Is That Of Missing Kayaker

  (New Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – State police have released the name of a woman whose body was discovered Sunday in Brodie Pond in New Hartford.
  According to the state medical examiner, the body is that of 53-year-old Patricia Cole.
  State troopers received the call a little before 5:30 p.m. on a report of a body in the pond.
  Cole disappeared New Year’s night while out kayaking, according to authorities.

  (Bridgeport, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Bridgeport fire officials say 21 people were displaced as a result of a early morning fire.
  The blaze broke out in a multi-family home on Berkshire Avenue.
  Firefighters fought the blaze for a time until crews were pulled out for an exterior attack.
  Once they gained control, firefighters were able to go back inside and fight the blaze.
  No injuries were reported.

  The Board of Aldermen on Tuesday unanimously approved the purchase of 25 body cameras for the police department.
