    Woman’s winning lottery ticket voided due to error — ‘It wasn’t anything I did wrong’
    WASHINGTON — Ardella Newman thought she hit it big.
    On Aug. 22, Newman purchased a $2 scratch-off ticket that matched the number 16, making it worth $20,000.
    “When I saw that $20,000, you don’t know how excited I was,” she told WJLA.
    However, lottery officials told her there had been a big mistake and the ticket was issued in error.

    WATERBURY — A Waterbury teen was killed Tuesday morning when he was riding his bike and hit by a car.
    Police said they were called to intersection of Cooke Street and Chase Avenue at 5:15 a.m. Police found the teen in the street with a serious head injury.
    The victim was taken to Waterbury Hospital and was pronounced dead about a half hour later. Police later identified him as Alex Suarez, 14.
    Police are investigating the accident.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Authorities say one person is dead and the highway was shut down after a fatal wrong-way crash on Interstate 91 in New Haven.
    The crash occurred on the northbound side of the highway at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday when a wrong-way car collided with a tractor-trailer.
    State police say one person was killed and another was taken to the hospital.
