    On Saturday night, Jamestown police officers responded to an Alfred St. residence after receiving a report of a situation involving a handgun.

    LETCHWORTH, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Park police say a Buffalo-area couple and their two dogs were rescued from the Letchworth Gorge.
    Officers, state police and fire officials responded to the area of the Hogsback overlook shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday.
    There, officials say a dog slipped in an icy area, broke away from their leash and ended up in the ravine. The second dog broke free and followed the first one.

    (WIVB) — A groundbreaking test may one day help researchers detect autism.
    A team of British scientists found that children with autism have higher levels of damage to proteins in their blood plasma.
    They created a new blood and urine test that could soon be used to diagnose autism.
    Experts remained cautious, saying it will be years before this test is available for doctors. They need to repeat the study’s findings in other groups.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Bloomberg report says Tops could file for bankruptcy as early as this week.
    UFCW Local One released a statement saying all 12,000 of their employees that work for the company have been receiving benefits, including health, pension and 401K contributions.

    French and Brazilian researchers looked at and surveyed more than 100,000 people.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Daemen Wildcats picked up their fifth straight win on Sunday, knocking off Queens College 69-57 to improve to 19-7 overall.
    Andrew Sischo led the way scoring 13 of his 19 points in second half. Breon Harris chipped in with 18 while Darius Garvin added 12 in the victory.
