  • 2 kids, woman killed, cop hurt in Christmas standoff in Phoenix

    (CBS) –  A suspect is in custody after, police say, he shot and killed a woman and their two children before getting into a shootout with police at a central Phoenix apartment complex on Christmas, reports CBS Phoenix affiliate KPHO-TV.
    Officers were called to the Highland Apartments at approximately 3:45 p.m.
    When they arrived, they found a woman shot to death in the parking lot, according to Sgt. Jonathan Howard.

  • Code Blue in effect in Lockport through Friday

    LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) –  The Code Blue warming shelter for the City of Lockport will be open 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday through Friday this week due to extreme cold temperatures.
    The warming shelter is located at the Salvation Army, 50 Cottage St.
    Any homeless individual or individual without heat may spend the evening. Light refreshments and cots/blankets will be available.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Power has been restored to most of the buildings at the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority’s Kenfield Homes Tuesday afternoon.
    According to a spokesperson for the BMHA, 75 of the 80 buildings that were without power Tuesday morning have had their power restored. The rest are expected to be restored by 5:30 p.m.

  • Over $6.6 million in contraband tobacco seized in New York State in 2017

    NEW YORK, N.Y. (WIVB) – New York State’s Cigarette Strike Force seized $6.6 million worth of contraband tobacco over the past year, according to a report from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office.
    Untaxed cigars made up a bulk of the confiscations, with investigators seizing more than 1.5 million illegal cigars in 2017.

  • Man charged with DWI following early morning crash in Elma

    ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB) – An East Aurora man was charged early Tuesday morning with DWI and other charges after his vehicle was spotted off the roadway along Girdle Road.
