  TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — It is looking a lot like Christmas across Western New York. We got plenty of snow overnight. It’s a light fluffy snow, not the best for making snowballs or a snowman but strong winds could blow the snow and make for a tricky commute today.

• Wheatfield community raising money to help homeless veteran

  WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) — A homeless veteran is recovering from burn injuries at ECMC after the building he was seeking shelter in — caught fire. Now the town of Wheatfield is helping him recover in life this Christmas.

• Volunteers serve up Christmas dinner for homeless

  BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo Dream Center and Hearts for the Homeless teamed up Sunday to give back for the holiday.
  The groups hosted a free Christmas Eve dinner for the homeless and other families in need.
  Lasagna was on the menu, followed by games and holiday songs.

• Three people shot in Lockport on Christmas Eve

  LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — Three people were rushed to ECMC after being shot on Christmas Eve.
  The shooting happened around 10:15 a.m. Sunday at Harvey Avenue in Lockport.
  Police tell News 4 they responded to the area for a report of shots fired. When the arrived on the scene they found three people who had been shot. Each person was taken to ECMC for treatment. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
