• Hospital dealing with issues as contractor is selected to fix Niagara Falls water main

    A contractor has been picked to fix the water main break on 47th St. in Niagara Falls. The Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is one of the places dealing with low water pressure. On some of the floors, patients are having trouble flushing toilets!
    It’s the fifth day of low water pressure in the hospital, according to administrators, who are getting fed up waiting for a fix.

    The crash involves at least one serious injury. Mercy Flight has been called to the scene.

  • Buffalo man dies following accident in Niagara Falls

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 33-year-old Buffalo man was killed Wednesday after striking a traffic signal support pole in Niagara Falls.
    The crash occurred at 56th Street and Buffalo Avenue. According to Niagara Falls Police, the man, who was driving a 2001 Honda Accord, was traveling east on Buffalo Avenue when the car left the roadway, striking the pole.
    HE was extricated by the Niagara Falls Fire Department and taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

    The shooting occurred Tuesday night around 10:15 p.m.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An 18-year-old man was killed in a vehicle crash in Buffalo Tuesday night.
    Buffalo police say they responded to the 200 block of French St. just before 9:30 p.m.

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A proposal from the New York State Education Department could change how your child’s school year is configured.
    If passed, instead of the required 180-day school year, there would be hourly requirements for classroom time. The proposal calls for a minimum of 900 instructional hours for full-day kindergarten and grades one through six. For grades 7-12 there would be a minimum of 990 instructional hours.

    (CNN) – McDonald’s is introducing the McVegan burger…in Finland, anyway.
    In a trial run, the chain is offering a meatless, soy patty on a quarter-pounder bun in five restaurants around the city of Tampere.
