    NEW YORK — A Manhattan financier upset with his wife tried to blow up his multi-million dollar brownstone in an apparent suicide attempt, according to authorities.

    GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Police say a fired food service worker rammed a former co-worker’s car at Lambeau Field, bringing numerous law enforcement agencies to the Green Bay Packers’ stadium.
    Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith told reporters that the suspect was fired after an altercation with the co-worker earlier this month. Smith says when the suspect saw the co-worker Friday, he smashed into that employee’s vehicle, driving it under the back of a van.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Up to a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest or indictment of a man wanted by the New York State Dept. of Corrections and Community Services parole division.
    Evan Anthony Nix is wanted by NYS DOCCS for absconding from supervision. He is serving a seven year sentence for second degree burglary. He also has a prior attempted robbery conviction.

  • Austria: 2 trains collide near Vienna, several injured

    BERLIN (AP) — Two passenger trains collided on Friday near Vienna, injuring several people, authorities said.
    The trains, one of them regional and the other local, collided near the station in Kritzendorf, north of the Austrian capital, a little before 6 p.m. (1700 GMT). Two cars turned over, and a third was leaning to one side.
    The point of impact appeared to be the sides of both trains, which were traveling in the same direction and then derailed.

    COMMACK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A New York State Trooper from West Seneca remains in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle on Monday.
    Trooper Joseph Gallagher, 35, was struck along a dangerous curve on a busy Long Island parkway. At the time, he was helping two stranded motorists.
    As he was putting out flares to warn oncoming traffic, a vehicle came around a corner and hit him. Gallagher sustained a traumatic head injury during the incident.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A U.S. Postal Service truck was involved in a crash on Bailey Ave. Friday morning.
    The incident happened on the 500 block of the street around 7 a.m.
    Buffalo police say the postal truck was traveling north on Bailey, when it was hit by a southbound SUV.
    The SUV driver, who was only identified as a 27-year-old man, was taken to ECMC with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
    Police say the driver was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license.

    TOWN OF CASTILE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Livingston County woman was charged after authorities say a farm worker was abducted and beaten in the Town of Castile.
    According to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s office, Zoraida Rodriguez, 30, and several others “lured” a victim out of his home on Route 39 Sunday night.
    The 28-year-old victim was then abducted, pistol whipped, beaten and robbed of his cell phone and money, the Sheriff’s office says.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has signed into law a $1.5 trillion tax overhaul package.
    Trump touted the size of the tax cut, declaring to reporters in the Oval Office before he signed it Friday that “the numbers will speak.”

  • West Seneca police seize more than $100,000 worth of illegal drugs during search

    WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) — West Seneca police seized an extensive amount of drugs and money during a search on Friday.
    After a search warrant was issued, roughly 35 pounds of marijuana, more than two kilograms of cocaine, $22,000 and drug paraphernalia were taken by police.
    Seneca St. resident David Link, 39, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as criminal possession of marijuana. Both are felony charges.

  • Engineering students develop prosthetic arm for 9-year-old boy

    SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) — Christmas came early this year for a 9-year-old boy in Scituate, Rhode Island.
    Ollie Mancini was born without the lower part of his left arm. He always wanted a prosthetic, and a group of engineering students made that happen.
    The group of students at the Scituate Academy of Engineering used a 3-D printer to create a prosthetic arm for Mancini, making his dream a reality.

    WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Williamsville boy with brain cancer received a special visit on Thursday afternoon.
    Sebastian Bradley was diagnosed with glioblastoma in February 2016.

  • Officials seize pounds of pot in cans at Peace Bridge

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A shipment containing more than 7.5 pounds of marijuana was seized at the Peace Bridge on Wednesday.
    U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the Peace Bridge commercial warehouse checked out a shipment that was labeled as “stuffed animals.”
    When officers searched, they say they found cans labeled as containing meat products. That’s not what was inside though, officers say.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Items associated with Elvis Presley are on the auction block, including the rocker’s rocking chair from the Jungle Room at Graceland.

    (AP) — Congress has voted to prevent a government shutdown as the House and Senate in rapid succession approved a stopgap spending bill to keep agencies running through Jan. 19.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police at the University at Buffalo are hoping someone will be able to help them identify the man in the video above.
    Authorities say he stole a laptop from Kapoor Hall on the Main St. campus.

    Buffalo, N.Y. (WIVB) — NFTA Police arrested a man who allegedly groped two women on a flight from Newark to Buffalo Wednesday.
    The police report says Michael Hildebrand told a woman on the plane he wanted to kiss her. Police say the woman declined and Hildebrand grabbed her leg, forcing her to get up and move to another seat.     Six days after a water main broke, sending water several feet into the air, the Niagara Falls Water Board has selected a contractor to repair the line.

(WIVB) – Matthew Jaskula, 27, who once worked as a cell block attendant with the Buffalo Police Department, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and three years of supervised release in U.S. District Court.Jaskula was convicted of willfully depriving another of their constitutional rights under color of law resulting in bodily injury.The incident was captured on video inside the city lockup back on May 19, 2016.
