• Alaska’s marijuana industry tax revenue reaches $1M

  JUNEAU — Alaska’s marijuana industry has brought in more than $1 million in tax revenue since commercial sales began in October.
  June 30 was the due date for Alaska cannabis growers to pay taxes collected in May, Juneau Empire reported.
  The state’s May revenue was $272,600, which is the highest of any month since October and pushed overall tax revenue to $1.2 million.

• Man stabbed outside Walmart Wednesday

  An adult male was stabbed Wednesday night in the Walmart parking lot off A Street.
  Anchorage Police were called to the scene around 10:40 Wednesday night, where they found the victim suffering a stab wound to the upper torso.
  Authorities say the man was intoxicated, combative and very uncooperative, and police had to restrain the man so medical aid could be rendered. The man, who has not been identified, was later taken to the hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

• Time is running out for homes threatened by Matanuska River erosion

  People who live near the Matanuska River in Sutton point to the home that can be seen from the highway floating downstream as an example of government inaction when it comes to an erosion problem they’ve been dealing with for years.

  AUBURN, Maine (AP) – A professional runner from Kenya says he had to outrun two charging bears while training in the woods in Maine.
  Moninda Marube went for a run early Wednesday out on a nature trail near his home in Auburn. The Lewiston Sun Journal (http://bit.ly/2uP3KIm ) reports he ran into two black bears just after passing a vacant house near Auburn Lake.

• Medical emergency may be to blame in fatal Glenn Hwy crash

  SUTTON, Alaska (AP) – Alaska State Troopers say a 77-year-old man may have suffered a medical emergency before crashing a pickup on the Glenn Highway.
  Noble Sherwood was driving south Wednesday at Mile 66 near Sutton when he crossed through the northbound lane and crashed into trees.
  A passer-by administered CPR until emergency responders arrived.
  Sherwood was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

• Ace Hardware robbery suspect appears in court

  The man shot while suspected of robbing Ace Hardware in East Anchorage appears in court.
  William McCann faces robbery, assault and reckless endangerment charges.
  Police say he robbed Andy’s Ace Hardware store on Muldoon in June. He reportedly shot the cash register and was then shot twice by a loss prevention officer as he tried to run away.
  The judge set his bail at $100,000.
  McCann’s trial is scheduled to start in September.

• Experts warn about black bears getting into trash

  Anchorage Police Department and wildlife experts are urging people to keep their surroundings, such as campgrounds, parks and yards, clear of trash.

  An Anchorage apartment complex was blown off of its foundation in an illegal hash oil explosion, according to Anchorage Police.
  APD sent a Nixle alert early Wednesday evening reporting it happened in the 4500 block of Folker Street on Saturday around 10:30 a.m.
  When officers arrived, they said they found the first-floor windows and door blown out from the corner of the apartment. There were no signs of a fire, but there were glass and debris scattered around the area, police said.

  Anchorage Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a 10-year-old boy they found on Old Seward Highway Wednesday afternoon.
  APD says they responded to the Old Seward Highway, near Huffman Road at 2:52 p.m., regarding a child in traffic. When police arrived, they said they were unable to get the boy out of the roadway into a police car. He was combative and non-verbal, according to a Nixle report.
