• Giant snowballs wash up on Siberian beach

  There were snowy, icy balls everywhere.
  Videos and photos from western Siberia, on the Gulf of Ob, showed an entire beach covered in snowballs that had apparently washed ashore. In one image published online by the Siberian Times, a woman sat on the frozen balls. In another, a dog ran near the balls, which had also formed what looked like a vertical mass of balls mashed together into an icy ball-wall.

  A magnitude 5.0 earthquake shook central Oklahoma on Sunday evening, damaging several buildings. Multiple aftershocks also hit the area, the U.S. Geological Survey says.

  An Emmonak man received multiple stab wounds and is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after an incident in his home Friday.
  Allen Akaran was allegedly punching his girlfriend, and then began to strike his 2-year-old daughter, according to an Alaska State Troopers investigation.

  ANCHORAGE — A man has been hospitalized after an altercation at a nightclub led to shots being fired, Anchorage police said.
  Andrew Abellanosa, 30, was taken to a hospital after the early Sunday incident, and he’s now in stable condition, KTUU-TV reports.

• Woman charged in shooting in western Alaska village

  ANCHORAGE — A 46-year-old western Alaska woman is in custody after a shooting that left a man wounded.
  Mara Daniels of the village of Elim is charged with felony assault and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
  She is jailed in Nome.
  Alaska State Troopers on Saturday morning took a report of a man with a gunshot wound in Elim and their investigation led to the arrest of Daniels.
  The name of the wounded man was not released.
  Online court records do not list an attorney for Daniels.

  Janet Reno, the first woman to serve as attorney general of the United States, died early Monday from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Reno’s goddaughter Gabrielle D’Alemberte and sister Margaret Hurchalla confirmed her passing to NPR.

  FAIRBANKS — Gov. Bill Walker and hundreds of mourners turned out Sunday for the funeral of a Fairbanks Police Department sergeant killed in the line of duty.

  The Anchorage Police Department (APD) says they are investigating the early morning robbery of a Holiday gas station.
  In an online release, APD stated that around 2:30 a.m. Monday someone reported a robbery at the gas station located on Bragaw Street near Debarr Road.
