• Fire closes Sonic in northeast Albuquerque

  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A fire forced the closure of an Albuquerque Sonic restaurant.
  It happened just before 1 Monday afternoon at Central and Juan Tabo.
  The Albuquerque Fire Department says employees called 911 to report smoke inside the building. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which was contained to the bathroom.

  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man will go to prison for shooting his ex-girlfriend last year.
  Matthew Gonzales told police his neighbor’s dog told him to do it.
  It happened after he saw his ex-girlfriend update her relationship status to “single” on social media and got angry. She did survive.
  In court on Monday, the judge sentenced Gonzales to 12 years in prison.

  Residents used 127 gallons per person each day; that’s seven gallons less than 2014.

  They say a woman walked into Mesa Vista Hall on the University of New Mexico campus and took a wallet that was stored in a desk.
  The suspect was then caught using one of the cards at the Walgreen’s on Central and Rio Grande and again at Ross on Central.

  The employee claims Dona Ana County Treasurer David Gutierrez offered the employee $1,000 if she would go to a hotel with him. The woman also claims Gutierrez would make inappropriate comments to her at work.
  The alleged incidents happened in 2014. The woman claims she didn’t report the incidents earlier in fear of losing her job.

  NEW YORK (AP) — The number of U.S. children victimized by abuse and neglect increased by nearly 3 percent in the latest annual reporting period, according to new federal data.
  According to the report released Monday by the Department of Health and Human Services, the estimated number of victimized children in the 2014 fiscal year was 702,208 — up from 682,307 in 2013.

  TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – A Taos man has been convicted of beating his girlfriend to death.
  According to the Taos News, a jury convicted Henry Wilton of involuntary manslaughter. They believe he beat Angela Serrano while on a camping trip in Tres Ritos in 2014.
  When she was taken to the hospital three days later and near death she told first responders it was Wilton who had hurt her.
