Nottingham Post published Nottingham Forest at 150: Flashback: End of Clough and Taylor's...
Two years after their second European Cup win, the only two players left at Nottingham Forest of the 14 who had started one or other of the European Cup finals were Viv Anderson and John Robertson — and both had gone by 1984. Expensive signings like Ian Wallace, Peter Ward and Justin Fashanu were nowhere near the class of those that went and the touch that brought the likes of Larry Lloyd and Kenny Burns to the City Ground seemed to have deserted Brian Clough and Peter Taylor. With... -

The pub quiz is up there with roast dinners and queuing as far as British traditions are concerned - and on Sunday night it united the whole country. More than 600 boozers nationwide - including Nottingham's own Raglan Road - took part in a synchronised pub quiz in an attempt to break the record for the world's biggest. Speaking before kick-off at 7.30pm Pippa Harper, license holder of the Derby Road pub, said she'd be keeping a watchful eye on any punters looking to Google for... -
Nottingham Post published Dundee Stars 3 Nottingham Panthers 6: Match report
Four goals in the space of just under six minutes in the final period helped Nottingham Panthers make it a four-point weekend thanks to a 6-3 road win at Dundee Stars in the Elite League. Corey Neilson's side came back from 2-1 and 3-2 down to claim maximum points for the second night running – having beaten Braehead Clan 5-3 at the National Ice Centre 24 hours earlier. And with Clan losing both of their weekend games – after going down 4-3 at home to Fife on Sunday evening... -

Notts County boss Jamie Fullarton said he was "disappointed" to lose Saturday's game against Hartlepool to the weather, but admitted it was the correct decision. The Magpies' League Two clash against Ronnie Moore's strugglers was postponed following an 11.30am inspection. Heavy rain had left standing water on the pitch in front of the Derek Pavis stand giving referee Darren England no option to call the game off.No new date has been set for the game, which denied Notts the chance to... -
Nottingham Post published Nottingham Forest fan column: Dan Watts: Boss Freedman is...
Dougie Freedman is starting to win some Nottingham Forest fans over, with the unbeaten run and Saturday's win at Leeds United.I thought the fans were brilliant at Elland Road as they got behind the team from start to finish. The game was very end to end in the first half, as I expected. We were unlucky not to go 1-0 in front with some of the play, plus the shot from Gary Gardner which hit the bar.I knew we could win. And when Nelson Oliveira scored, I knew we would go on to collect the three... -

Wollaton Hall and urban gorillaWhat other provincial city can boast a Tudor mansion within its boundaries? The hall dates from 1588, the year when Elizabeth I's seadogs and God's divine wind were sending Spanish galleons to the bottom. Sadly, the Virgin Queen was too busy roasting Jesuits and giving the Queen of Scots the Daesh treatment to visit this fantasy palace of the Willoughbys. But we can. It remains a majestic, spectacular echo of the golden age of Good Queen Bess, Shakespeare and... -

Nottmtails published Nottingham Forest analysis: Paul Taylor: Reds' own No.17 haunts...
The match day programme at Elland Road had, apparently, to be completely reprinted, in the days prior to kick-off, with the edition number '16b' on the front cover. While there are, it is said, no longer any seats within the famous old stadium bearing the number 17. They too have been relabelled with 16b. At the heart of it all is a curious superstition held by Leeds' colourful and at times controversial owner, Massimo Cellino, who reportedly has a morbid fear of the number 17. Those... -

Nothing dates and ages you like music. It is hard to believe that this is a 20th Anniversary tour of the Fun Lovin' Criminals seminal debut, Come Find Yourself. It only seems like yesterday that this was a fresh, unique release blending jazz, hip hop and rock with iconic cultural references and Tarantino dialogue. The two-set gig with the full first album played in impeccable style and a shorter set of other favourites played thereafter. FLC are a hard band to judge, largely because of the... -
NottmPostEG published Bob Mould at Rescue Rooms, Nottingham: Review
Bob Mould is clearly not a man who likes to hang around. From the minute he arrived on stage, along with his bass player and drummer, Mould did not let up for a second. Tonight was pure no-frills American punk rock. He briefly introduced the band and congratulated Nottingham's recent UNESCO recognition but other than that the music was left to do the talking. A Good Idea and Changes started off proceedings – songs that are as melodic and catchy as they are jagged and ear-achingly... -

NottmPostEG published Nottingham Festival Chorus at Albert Hall, Nottingham: Review
The Nottingham Festival Chorus's performance of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis was an heroic achievement - and by rights the city's bells should be pealing for them. So were they note-perfect throughout the work's 90 minutes of strenuous complexity? I think the performers would be surprised if I said 'yes'. But there is no doubt that they caught in both hands the spirit of the Mass and hurled it rejoicingly towards the audience. The Missa Solemnis is not just difficult to perform flawlessly. It... -

Dougie Freedman believes togetherness and team spirit was at the heart of Nottingham Forest's dominant 1-0 win at Leeds United. Nelson Oliveira's eighth goal of the season was enough to secure three points for the Reds, but they might have claimed a more emphatic win, with Gary Gardner hitting the bar, Robert Tesche spurning a golden chance and Eric Lichaj denied by a fine save. The result lifted them into tenth place in the Championship, as well as extending their unbeaten run in the league... -

Nottingham Post commented Nelson Oliveira 'offside' for Nottingham Forest winner, says...
It is safe to say Steve Evans was struggling to accept defeat graciously following the final whistle at Elland Road – as the Leeds manager insisted he would "rather watch paint dry" than have to sit through another Nottingham Forest performance. Haydn Hollis will not rule out a late play-off charge for Notts County and says it is "natural" to think they can defy the odds. The Magpies have three games in hand on some teams above them in the table, with the gap to the top seven being nine points after the weekend's fixtures. Notts were without a game because their League Two clash with Hartlepool was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. That's nearly two seasons Andy Reid has been out injured now. It's going to be very, very hard for him to come back for Nottingham Forest. Missing two years of football, that's a long, long time. I hope he can get back, but he will find it very hard. It's a shame, but, if I'm being honest, this might prove the injury which stops his career. I hope I'm wrong.
