Titus Mountain: Somewhere Over the Rainbow
I’ve been feeling nostalgic. Between laps at Woods Valley, I spent my holiday downtime watching old ski and snowboard movies. Cult classics like Ski School and Out Cold had me longing for the good old days. Can I say that? I’m not even 30 yet. I’d heard Titus Mountain had that old school feeling, and this past weekend, when the rain returned to Central New York, it was clear where I needed to go, as far north as possible. It » Read More »

Either as a joke or a played-out stock phrase, the term “multi-sport athlete” gets thrown around a lot. In Valerie Festavan’s case, though, it’s just accurate.
The 25-year-old action-sports polyglot is known among skiers for her stylish skiing, but she also skateboards, snowboards, mountain bikes, and rides dirt bikes. Sometimes, she does them the same day on the same mountain: at the past two Silver Belt competitions, she entered as a skier and snowboarder.

  • Review: 2027 Dynafit Radical Pro Boot

To me, the most important feature of how a backcountry boot performs is how it skis. After all, why else am I walking up all these mountains in the winter? There’s not much of a point in taking a boot all the way up a skintrack if the way back down is going to suck. Sure, walking is fun, but skiability rules all. That being said, there are many schools of thought on how a touring boot should achieve good skiability. For Dynafit, it’s all about the walk mode mechanism. Thanks to a long
