• $9 Billion In Property Remains Unclaimed In California. Here’s How To See If Any Of It Is Yours

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – State Controller Betty Yee’s office is reminding Californians that more than $9 billion in property remains unclaimed.
  Just last month, officials say people have gotten back more than $25.2 million in unclaimed property. Modestans, for example, had 210 properties worth a total of $46,739 reunited with their rightful owners.
  Statewide, more than 48 million properties remain unclaimed.

• Polling Places May Need To Open Before Election Day In California

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Polling places in California may need to be open for more than just Election Day.
  A new Assembly bill (AB 363) introduced Monday would require local election officials to open at least one polling place on the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday leading up to Election Day. The polling place would need to be open for at least 8 hours.

• California Teachers May Get $200 Tax Credit For Supplies

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – California teachers may get a tax break on the supplies they buy for their classrooms and students. However, that tax break only covers $200 for a calendar year.
  Assemblymember Steven Choi introduced AB 348 on Monday. If passed it would go into effect on January 1, 2020 and cover public, charter, or private school teachers in grades K-12.
