• Suspects Sought In Sacramento State Parking Lot Break-ins

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento State Police are searching for three suspects tied to early morning break-ins in the campus parking lot.
    Two parked cars were broken into in Lot 10 at around 5 a.m. on Thursday. A Sac State police officer noticed the suspects and when he ordered them to stop, they fled in a vehicle.
    The officer pursued them toward the freeway until the watch commander stopped the pursuit.

  • Man Dies After October Double Stabbing, Attempted Kidnapping In Vacaville

    VACAVILLE (CBS13) – Police say a man stabbed during an attempted kidnapping in Vacaville in October has died.
    The incident happened back on Oct. 23. Deputies from the Solano County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 5000 block of Fry Road that day to investigate a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
    Deputies found that two men had been stabbed by a third man, 32-year-old Vacaville resident Kristopher Williams.

  • Sacramento Loses To Cleveland In Bid To Host 2022 NBA All-Star Game

    CLEVELAND (CBS13/AP) — Sacramento has officially lost on to Cleveland on a bid to host the 2022 NBA All-Star Game.
    NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement that Cleveland won the bid on Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena, the site of the game.
    Silver said he had a number of discussions with Cavaliers chairman Dan Gilbert and chief operating officer Len Komoroski about bringing the game to Cleveland.

  • 110 California Sex Offenders Arrested In Halloween Sweep

    SACRAMENTO (AP) – California corrections officials say they arrested 110 sex offender parolees during an annual Halloween sweep designed to keep the offenders from contacting children or engaging in other Halloween activities.
    That’s about 9 percent of the 1,252 parolees contacted statewide Wednesday.
    Officials said Thursday that eight parolees face new charges while the rest allegedly violated conditions of their parole.

  • Police Find Metal Objects In Candies Reportedly Given To Trick-Or-Treaters In Oakdale

    OAKDALE (CBS13) – Police in Oakdale are investigating after metal objects were discovered in candy reportedly given out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
    The Oakdale Police Department says a parent turned over chocolate candies that they said had been tampered with. The candies were allegedly collected while trick-or-treating in Oakdale’s Burchell’s neighborhood.

    PENRYN (CBS13) – Arrests have been made after a chase of a car going the wrong way along Interstate 80 in Placer County Thursday morning.

  • US Foods Planning To Build Distribution Facility At McClellan Park, Creating 180 Jobs

    NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) – Hundreds of new jobs are coming to the region as US Foods looks to expand.
    The company will build a distribution facility in McClellan Park that will service restaurants across Northern California.
    The move will create up to 180 new jobs. The average pay: $60,000.
    The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors recently approved an incentive package that saves the company millions of dollars.

    MODESTO (CBS13) – Police are investigating after a Modesto man was found dead after a shooting Wednesday night.
    The scene was along the 3700 block of Coffee Road.
    Modesto police say, just after 7 p.m., officers responded to the area to investigate a reported shooting. A man who had been shot was soon found in a garage in the alley behind a home.

  • CHP Officer Found Guilty Of Downloading Child Pornography While On Patrol

    SOLANO COUNTY (CBS13) — A California Highway Patrol officer was found guilty of downloading child pornography while he was on patrol.
    Eric Lund, 49, is from Chico, but was arrested in Fairfield at the CHP office where he worked in 2014.
    He was found guilty by a Solano County jury on Tuesday.
