• Police: Man Impersonating Deputy Searched Modesto Massage Businesses

    MODESTO (CBS13) – Detectives have arrested a man suspected of impersonating a sheriff’s deputy in Modesto.
    The Modesto Police Department says, last week, officers investigated a report of someone who appeared to be a deputy who walked into the Vintage Massage business on Dale Road. The man, who was wearing a sheriff uniform shirt, went into several rooms and opened drawers and cabinets.
    Witnesses say the man left through the front door without saying anything to employees.

    JAMESTOWN (CBS13) – A Tuolumne County gentleman’s club went up in smoke early Tuesday morning.
    The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says they got a call from California Highway Patrol just before 3:30 a.m. that Rosalinda’s in Jamestown was on fire.

  • 2-Year-Old Boy Dies In Suspected DUI Crash Near Nevada City

    NEVADA CITY (CBS13) – A child has died in a crash near Nevada City that officers suspect was DUI-related.
    It happened along Highway 20 near Harmony Ridge Road around 9 p.m. Monday.
    Officials with the California Highway Patrol say the two-year-old boy was not restrained in an appropriate car seat.
    Officers say the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned several times; the passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

    ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — Legalized pot in California is leading to changes in some local police K-9 units, and the dogs trained to detect marijuana.
    “Once you train a dog on something you can’t untrain them,” Roseville police officer Scott Miszkewycz said.

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — After hours of investigations and campus sweeps, all Solano community colleges have been deemed safe by law enforcement.
    All three college campuses in Fairfield, Vacaville, and Vallejo were evacuated Monday afternoon after two anonymous bomb threats.

    MODESTO (CBS13) — Four people were wounded in a shooting at a Modesto home on Monday.
    The shooting happened on Robertson Road on Monday night.
    Three men and a woman were wounded when someone opened fire outside a garage. The garage door was closed at the time of the shooting.
    All four are expected to survive.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Like many people living in Midtown Sacramento, Beau Britton is a serious recycler.
    “What kind of stuff do you recycle? Plastic. Paper. Wood. I have a huge garden in my backyard. We recycle the plants,” he said.
    All acceptable materials under Sacramento city and county recycling programs.
    But there’s a problem.
    The materials are all prohibited in countries, like China that buy California’s recyclables—about 15 million tons of it each year.
