• Firefighters Battle Fire At Rancho Cordova Apartment Complex

    RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – Firefighters battled an apartment fire at a Rancho Cordova complex Monday afternoon.

    Sacramento Metro Fire officials say that two apartments were affected by the fire.
    A search of the apartments revealed no victims.
    The fire is now under control, Metro Fire says.

    WOODLAND (CBS13) – Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto is ending his reelection bid.
    The long-tenured top cop of Yolo County announced on Monday that he would not be seeking reelection. He had announced last year he would be seeking his sixth term in office.
    “It has become clear to me that a contentious campaign between two candidates within our organization would be divisive and ultimately harmful to the department and our mission moving forward,” said in his statement.

  • Man Charged With False Threat About Flight Leaving Chicago For Sacramento

    CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged with making a false bomb threat after telling a fellow passenger on a plane preparing to depart Chicago that it was going to explode.
    Court documents say 28-year-old Michael Bielinski of Chicago told a woman sitting next to him “we’re all going to die” Friday evening as the American Airlines flight was getting ready to leave O’Hare International Airport for Sacramento.

  • Folsom Police Discover Thousands Of Dollars In Stolen Bras After Pulling Over Suspects

    FOLSOM (CBS13) – Police uncovered a big secret when they pulled over a car in Folsom on Friday.
    Officers say they found $11,000 worth of bras stuffed in the trunk.
    The bras been stolen a short time earlier from a Victoria’s Secret store.
    The suspects, 22-year-old Blanca Thalia Quintero and 19-year-old Antanae Lastar Welch, are from the Bay Area. Both women are facing charges of robbery and conspiracy.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento is mourning a local influential icon. Housing developer  Ali Youssefi passed away Saturday after battling cancer at the young age of 35.
    Youssefi was an Iranian American who helped develop affordable housing around Sacramento and was most recently redeveloping part of “K” street.
