    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – California could dramatically change the way it pressures criminal defendants to show up for court.
    A proposal getting its first hearing in the state Legislature on Tuesday could do away with monetary bail for most and take income into account for others to ensure poor suspects get an equal shot at freedom.
    Instead of requiring suspects to post bail, county officials would decide whether to release them based on their risk to public safety.

    SIERRAVILLE (AP) – A former Truckee High School football coach and member of the Nevada high school hall of fame has died from injuries he suffered in a two-car crash near Sierraville.

    LODI (CBS13) – Police in Lodi have arrested a 12-year-old boy who was armed with a loaded sawed-off rifle.
    The arrest happened late Saturday night. Lodi police say one of their sergeants contacted a pair of suspicious juveniles near Milles Avenue and Holly Drive.

    CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that shut down a major Citrus Heights roadway Sunday night.
    Peoria Drive and Fountain Square Drive opened re-opened at about 1:30 a.m. Monday after that crash shut down the area around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
    Authorities say a motorcyclist was traveling west on Greenback Lane and hit a car making a left turn onto Fountain Square Drive.
