    TAHOE CITY (CBS13) – Two cars were caught in the path of an avalanche on Highway 89 overnight.
    California Highway Patrol shared a picture of two men who got caught in an avalanche around 3 a.m.Despite the dangerous circumstances, the two appeared to be upbeat.
    “Caught in a slide,” read the nonchalant caption that accompanied David Ortiz’ photo.
    CHP tells us that everyone made it out safely.
    Snow is covering the highway between Alpine Meadows and Tahoe City.

    FREMONT (AP) – The search for a missing 18-year-old woman whose car plunged into a rushing creek southeast of San Francisco is set to resume.
    KNTV reports the woman’s vehicle collided with another car and went off the roadway and into Alameda Creek near the city of Fremont on Saturday.
    The woman’s name was not released, but she is reportedly from Tracy.
    Alameda County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Ray Kelly says the massive weekend storms hampered recovery efforts.

    TRUCKEE (CBS13) – Caltrans is concerned about the impact of heavy snow on trees in the Sierra.
    Crews took advantage of some dry days last week to chop down some possibly dangerous trees.
    The concern comes after previous heavy snow toppled twenty trees on Highway 89, killing one person and hitting three cars.
    “Every time I drive down, I am looking at trees that might be threatening,” said Charlie Harrington with Caltrans.
