    JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A young man has died after a shooting Friday night in the Columbine neighborhood in Jefferson County.
    Deputies received a call of shots fired around 6:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Newland Court, not far from Coal Mine and Pierce.
    “It’s just crazy. It makes you think, Colorado is changing quite a bit,” said Chris McCasky, a resident of the area.

  • Animal Sanctuary Under Investigation After Euthanizing Lions, Tigers & Bears

    AGATE, Colo. (CBS4) – Federal and local authorities are investigating whether the Lion’s Gate Sanctuary in Elbert County violated laws last month when it euthanized all 11 of its animals.
    Special agents at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are working with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office to find out what happened.
    The investigation into Lion’s Gate Sanctuary came two weeks after it euthanized five bears and six lions and tigers.

    ESTES PARK, Colo. (CBS4) – Law enforcement personnel have now spent more than a day trying to get a suicidal man to come out of a house in Estes Park.
    Officers first responded to a home on Larkspur Avenue at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The entirety of Larkspur Avenue is closed between Whispering Pines Drive and Carriage Drive.

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (CBS4) – Albuquerque Police release surveillance video of a burglar that broke into a home using a doggy door.
    The break-in happened in February. Police say Steven Candelaria peeked through a window, looking for a way inside.
    He climbed over a gate and walked over to the front door.

    Rescued Cougar Cub To Find Permanent Home In Minnesota
    PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS4) – After a quick stay at a vet center at Portland’s Oregon Zoo, an orphaned cougar cub will soon move to a new home in Minnesota.
    The cub is just five weeks old and does not yet have a name.
    Zoo staff describes the cub as “loud and rambunctious.” It was rescued this week by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officers after a landslide separated the young cougar from its mother.

    A new Crowned Lemur was born recently. Zoo officials don’t yet know the sex of the baby lemur, how long it is, or how much it weighs.
