    Independence Pass Closes For The Season After Storm Moves In
    ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Independence Pass is closed for the season.
    Colorado Department of Transportation crews shut the Aspen and Twin Lakes gates on Thursday as a winter storm brought an end to unseasonably warm weather that allowed the pass to remain open more than a week and a half longer than originally planned.
    The scenic pass, which reaches an elevation of 12,095 feet, typically is closed Nov. 7. It usually reopens the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend.
