    ALAMOSA, Colo. (CBS4)– Adams State University is the latest place to ban hoverboards on campus.
    The university in Alamosa made the announcement on Friday and said the ban was effective immediately. The school made the decision on the advice of its insurer because of the hoverboards fire potential.
    The ban includes hoverboards, Skagways, IO Hawks, Skywalkers and all similar devices and extends to all buildings and athletic venues on campus.

    DENVER (CBS4)– A United Airlines flight bound for Denver was diverted to Vancouver after a security issue involving a passenger. The flight was rescheduled and should arrive at Denver International Airport on Saturday evening.One passenger was arrested after United Airlines flight 1104 from Anchorage, Alaska landed safely in Vancouver. Canadian authorities took the passenger into custody.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Emergency management officials are practicing their rescue plans in the event of a major blizzard across northern El Paso County.
    The county Office of Emergency Management is conducting an exercise called “Deep Freeze 16” on Saturday. The exercise includes the National Guard, fire departments, ambulances and rescue shelters.
    About 400 people are taking part. Some will be acting as stranded motorists and others who might need rescuing.

    DURANGO, Colo. (AP) — Silverton officials say they’ll try to get enough information by the end of January to decide whether to ask for a federally funded Superfund cleanup of leaking mines north of town.
    The Durango Herald reported Friday that would be the deadline to get their request before the Environmental Protection Agency in time for the next meeting to consider Superfund proposals. The EPA reviews the proposals twice yearly.
