• Two charged with illegally possessing assault rifle in Jamestown

    JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Jamestown man and woman are facing charges after a loaded assault rifle and ammunition was found at their McKinley Avenue residence.
    Gabriel Harrison, 40, and Stacey Thayer, 37, were both charged with second degree criminal possession following a search warrant execution at their residence on Wednesday afternoon.
    Entry was made with the assistance of the Jamestown Police Department’s SWAT Team.
    Both suspects were charged because they have prior convictions
  • Erie County Sheriff’s deputy steps in to put out fire

    ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Erie County Sheriff’s deputy acted quickly to put out a fire behind a Broadway Avenue business.
    According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Retzlaff spotted smoke coming from behind the Tractor Supply Store and observed a loading dock rubber bumper on fire.
    The deputy alerted employees and used two separate fire extinguishers to suppress the fire. A volunteer fire company from Alden then arrived to check the building.

    SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man who killed his wife by setting her on fire has been sentenced to 21 years to life in prison.

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two teens were arrested and charged with armed robbery in the parking lot of the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, USA on Tuesday.
    According to New York State police reports, troopers responded to the mall at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an armed robbery in the parking lot.

    ALLEGANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Allegany man was arrested after New York State Police say he struck a woman in front of a child.
    On Monday night, Troopers went to a residence in the Colonial Village trailer park on State Route 417 after receiving a 911 call.

  • Fiat Chrysler recalling 494,417 Ram trucks for safety issue

    DETROIT (AP) — Fiat Chrysler is recalling almost half a million Ram heavy-duty pickups and medium-duty trucks because their water pumps could be defective.
    The recall involves Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs from the 2013 to 2017 model years. All 494,417 of the vehicles involved have 6.7-liter engines.
    Most of the trucks were sold in the U.S., but 46,220 are in Canada and 4,485 are in other markets.
