• Chrysler recalls some cars for loose bolts

  Fiat Chrysler says it is recalling some Chrysler cars because driveshaft bolts can come loose on all-wheel drive models, increasing the risk of a crash.
  The automaker says affected cars include 2014-2017 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive. Chrysler says it will notify owners, and dealers will replace all eight front driveshaft bolts for the cars, free of charge.

  The Iditarod Trail Committee announced late Friday night that a well-known name in the mushing community would not be hitting the trail for this year’s race.
  Without further explanation, the ITC made the announcement of 35-year-old Brent Sass’ voluntary withdrawal from the 2017 lineup on Facebook.Sass scratched from the 2017 Yukon Quest in Central on Feb. 12, according to the race’s website.

  Satsuki Ina was born behind barbed wire in a prison camp during World War II, the daughter of U.S. citizens forced from their home and locked up for years following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor.
  Roughly 120,000 Japanese immigrants and Japanese-Americans were sent to camps across the West because the government claimed they might plot against the U.S. Thousands were elderly, disabled, children or infants too young to know the meaning of treason. Two-thirds were citizens.

• Fire victim’s husband remembers her as smart, caring woman at vigil

  Teuaililo “Teu” Nua’s friends and family hung pictures and posters on a fence next to Royal Suite Lodge Friday evening. The 38-year-old died while trying to escape from the fire that killed one other person and sent 16 to the hospital. Friday night’s candlelight vigil was organized to honor Nua and others affected by the fire.

  Alaska became the third state to legalize recreational marijuana in 2015, but it’s not exactly ahead of the curve on hemp, which comes from the same plant.

• Alaska State Troopers seize $600,000 in marijuana at grow near Tok

  Alaska State Trooper investigators have seized marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $600,000 from an illegal grow operation near Tok.
  Acting on a tip, Fairbanks troopers in the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit on Wednesday contacted the occupants of a home at Mile 1316 Alaska Highway.
  Troopers say a suspected grow operation was on property next to the home.
  The property owner gave officers consent to seize illegal marijuana plants.

  Early Friday morning, a 22-year-old man showed up at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Although his injury was serious, Alaska State Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters said, he was lucky — it was non-life threatening.
