    At least 200 San Clemente residents – who planned to protest at a City Council meeting the lack of transparency on progress to create an emergency homeless shelter – vented their frustrations instead during an impromptu town hall.
    The town hall on Tuesday, May 7, was called by council members Dan Bane and Laura Ferguson after the council meeting schedule that night was canceled midday because not enough council members would be in attendance.

    SANTA ANA – Century’s baseball team stayed hot at the plate, scoring double-digits runs for the fourth consecutive game as the Centurions rolled to an 11-3 victory over St. Margaret’s in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs.
    The 11 runs matched what Century scored against Arrowhead Christian in the first round of the playoffs.
    The Centurions (23-6) also got a great performance from their ace Adam Santana, who pitched all seven innings and struck out nine batters.

    GARDEN GROVE – The Orange Lutheran softball team capitalized on some early opportunities in its CIF SS Division 1 second-round game against Pacifica on Tuesday at Pacifica High School.
    Pacifica, meanwhile, had numerous opportunities but couldn’t capitalize.

    WHITTIER – With runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh inning and the score tied, California catcher Jenavee Amador battled through a nine-pitch at-bat, fouling off pitch after pitch.
    The sophomore finally hit a sharp single up the middle that scored junior first baseman Casey Dufrene and set off a wild celebration in the infield as the Condors topped visiting Canyon of Anaheim 5-4 in a CIF-Southern Section Division 2 second-round softball game.
