Kartje: Patriots’ usual Super Bowl strategy no match for McVay and multifaceted Rams
Seventeen years ago, an upstart underdog led by a second-year head coach and a young quarterback upset one of the NFL’s juggernauts in the Super Bowl.
It was a league-altering moment, one that flip the fortunes of both teams, and it gave rise to a defensive strategy that would be emulated but never quite matched by anyone else on the NFL’s biggest stage.
Few gave the Patriots and their young quarterback, Tom Brady, a chance that night. They had nowhere near the firepower of their opp

Why the Patriots will win: I’d love to pick the Rams, really. But the hill is steep for first-time Super Bowl participants in handling both the commotion of the previous week and game day itself. The Trump uprising, with a renegade capitalist serving as the tribune of the forgotten working class, appears headed toward an inevitable denouement. Trump’s intemperance, jingoism and lack of political skills have undermined the GOP’s ability to reach beyond its base in the South, the exurbs and parts of middle America.

Will jet sweep be the play the Rams use to win the Super Bowl?
In the third quarter of an otherwise forgettable game against Washington in Dec. 2014, Rams quarterback Shaun Hill tapped his foot, and Tavon Austin took off down the line with a full head of steam. When a sprinting Austin reached the inside shoulder of the Rams left tackle, Hill snapped the ball, turning just in time to hand it off to his diminutive slot receiver.
As Austin bolted right, the rest of the Rams offense went left, pulling the Washington defense with them for just a split-second. It

Fine with parents if Junior wants to pluck a little. Just God forbid he should try to take it on the road.
