  U.S. Park Police said on Twitter that the shooting happened on West Executive Drive on Friday afternoon.

• Mexico OKs extradition of drug lord ‘El Chapo’ Guzman to US

  MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s Foreign Relations Department ruled Friday that the extradition of convicted drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to the United States can go forward.
  The process can still be appealed, meaning it could be weeks or months before the Sinaloa cartel leader may be sent to the U.S., where he is wanted in multiple jurisdictions on charges related to drug trafficking and organized crime.
  Guzman’s lawyers now have 30 days to appeal the decision.

• Accused serial burglar makes court appearance

  ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man charged with a string of burglaries appeared in court for a competency hearing.
  Anthony Chavez has been charged more than a dozen times but has yet to be indicted.
  In December, a judge found him incompetent to stand trial and ordered him to the Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas.
  Chavez was in court Thursday so that a judge could determine his competency but both parties agreed on additional testing.
  He’s scheduled back in court next month.

  DEXTER, N.M. (KRQE) – A former New Mexico police chief accused of sexually harassing women while on duty is headed to jail.
  Former Dexter Police Chief Mario Contreras was accused of asking women for pictures and video while on duty. One woman even recorded an interaction with Contreras where he asked her for a kiss. That launched the investigation.

  CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) – The New Mexico Supreme Court has affirmed the murder conviction of a Carlsbad man who killed his Texas girlfriend in 2014.
  Robert Earley was convicted of first-degree murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence last year.
