  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Matt Quintana is among a group of Albuquerque firefighters honored on Friday for saving the life of a 3-year-old girl.
  KRQE News 13 first reported about the case in February.
  The little girl was put in an ice cold bath as a form of punishment. When the Albuquerque Fire Department got there she was unconscious and hypothermic with her temperature at 80 degree, 18 degrees below normal.

  VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico high school student is using a class project to try and fix a major problem in his neighborhood.
  Mateo Olivas,15, loves the freedom of driving but he doesn’t love the road he is forced to drive on right outside his home in Los Chavez.
  The half mile stretch of Cuatro Vientos Road in Valencia County makes for a rough ride, according to Mateo.

  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Mice making their home inside some Rio Grande Zoo animal exhibits is a sign of wear and tear and a need for BioPark improvements.
  Scurrying about, burrowing in and stealing food — handfuls of mice live inside cages at the zoo, and they’re not supposed to be there.

• Carlsbad Caverns nominated for national award

  NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The Carlsbad Caverns have been nominated for the “Best Cave in the U.S.”
  In a USA Today Readers’ Choice contest people can vote for their favorite cave in the nation.
  Readers have until April 11th to vote.
  So far, Carlsbad is in sixth place out of 20 caves. Kartchner Caverns in Arizona has taken the lead.
