    Police arrest 2nd suspect in Anchorage double homicide
    A second person has been arrested in connection to Monday’s double homicide in west Anchorage.
    Linda Chattell, 26, was taken into custody Tuesday night and is charged with second degree murder, manslaughter and misconduct involving a controlled substance.
    Thirty-one-year-old Meghan Pugh, who is already in custody, says the the incident is the result of a drug deal gone bad.
    Pugh is also charged with second degree murder, manslaughter, and misconduct involving a controlled substance.

    Grand jury indicts man in death at Anchorage jail
    An Anchorage grand jury has indicted a man suspected of killing a fellow prisoner at the Anchorage Correctional Center.
    Alaska State Troopers say 20-year-old James Clinton was indicted on three counts including first-degree murder in the death of 53-year-old Mark Canul.
    A corrections officer found Canul unconscious at about 1:30 p.m. Dec. 11 during a routine security check of inmates.
    Responders administered CPR and Canul was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

    Die-offs of common murres have been taking place across Alaska since summer and the latest report is from Kachemak Bay, according to biologists with the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge in Homer.
    Common Murres, like the one held by Wildlife Biologist Leslie Slater on the beach along the Spit in Homer, are turning up along beaches all around the Kachemak Bay area.

    Sitka’s Marijuana Advisory Committee has approved a proposed resolution supporting a smaller buffer zone between marijuana businesses and schools than required under state regulations.
    The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports committee members agreed Monday to consider the draft again next week before sending it to the Sitka Assembly.
    The resolution calls for marijuana businesses to be at least 200 feet away from churches, schools and youth

    A suspect has been identified and charged in a recent stabbing death in the capital city. But another stabbing death remains unsolved. It’s been more than a year since Juneau man Christopher Kenney died from a knife wound.
