  • Blizzard keeps flights to Bethel on hold

    As of Friday morning, officials say AlaskaAir, Ravn and Yute airlines flights have been placed on hold due to the severe weather conditions. 
    Earlier today, the National Weather service issued a blizzard warning for the Kuskokwim area, including Bethel, Hooper Bay and Nunivak Island. The effect is expected to last until about 1 p.m.
    Ravn had two village flights in the morning and is expecting some incoming flights from Anchorage.

    In a long day of wrestling that went almost till midnight last Friday, dozens of Western Alaska wrestlers earned a chance to go to the state tournament in Anchorage.
    The Bethel Warriors were again dominant at regionals, collecting a total of 335 team points. The Dillingham Wolverines placed second with 278 team points, followed by New Stuyahok, Unalaska, and the Kuskokwim Learning Academy rounding out the top five teams.

    On Thursday, Dec. 17, Superior Court judge Paul Lyle approved a deal vacating the convictions of four men in the 1997 murder of John Hartman.     Ruth Ann’s restaurant, a Craig landmark, burned down early Thursday morning. According to a press release issued by Craig Police Chief R.J Ely the fire was first reported at about 2:40 am.
