  Sweden’s Greta Johansson, who became the first female Olympic gold medalist in diving at the 1912 Olympic Games, was honored in her hometown of Stockholm earlier this month with a statue commemorating the deceased athlete’s legacy in the sport.

  Melvin “Mel” Zajac, Sr., a member of the BC Swimming Hall of Fame and longtime philanthropist, died on May 28th, 2026. He was 98.

  The problem with the term “dryland” is that it encourages us to think of training outside the water as a separate activity. Swimming happens in the pool. Dryland happens somewhere else.
