  The A495 between Ellesmere and Whittington was one road surface dressed
  More than 70 stretches of road across Shropshire have been treated this spring and summer as part of Shropshire Council’s 2026 surface dressing programme – work that will play a key role in improving the county’s roads and preventing potholes.

  Morton Mill East Bridge – which carries an unclassified road over the River Roden – will be closed for maintenance work from 13 to 31 July [2026].
  The work includes parapet repairs, scour protection, arch repairs (crack stitching and repointing), and installation of Cintec anchors.

  A gold post-medieval ring discovered by a responsible metal detectorist in Shropshire is going on display thanks to an ongoing partnership between Shrewsbury’s museum and a law firm.
