The A495 between Ellesmere and Whittington was one road surface dressed
More than 70 stretches of road across Shropshire have been treated this spring and summer as part of Shropshire Council’s 2026 surface dressing programme – work that will play a key role in improving the county’s roads and preventing potholes.
Work began on 22 April and was completed at the start of June.

More than 70 roads surface dressed across Shropshire

Morton Mill East Bridge to close for maintenance
Morton Mill East Bridge – which carries an unclassified road over the River Roden – will be closed for maintenance work from 13 to 31 July [2026].
The work includes parapet repairs, scour protection, arch repairs (crack stitching and repointing), and installation of Cintec anchors.
To carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The closure will be in force 24/7.
