  It seems some people will do anything nowadays to get their kids into a good primary school - but this duck flew to the front of the queue by laying her eggs right in the school playground. The children of St John the Baptist Primary School, in Colwick, were delighted when the female mallard arrived a month ago and laid 11 eggs in a wooden planter in front of the school doors - which they expect they will hatch in two weeks' time.
