Nottingham Post published Nottingham Forest column: Kenny Burns: Bring on leaders...
Bring on Boro, that's all I've got to say. Bring on the league leaders because, right now, Nottingham Forest won't fear playing anybody. Eleven games unbeaten, they've just won convincingly at the City Ground, now is a great time for Dougie Freedman's Reds to take on Middlesbrough, the team at the top of the pile in the Championship. Can we beat them? Why not? There's no doubt it is going to be the hardest test since Forest began their impressive run of form back in November. I don't... -

Nottingham Post commented Nottingham Forest column: Kenny Burns: Well done Jamie Ward, you...
Well done Jamie Ward, you wee pest. Talk about producing his best performance yet for Nottingham Forest. If he can keep playing like he did against Bolton for the Reds, Derby will soon start to regret releasing him last summer before he made the short journey across the A52 to the City Ground. He won the penalty that Nelson Oliveira scored to fire Forest 1-0 ahead, after a great surging run into the box, he crossed for young Oliver Burke to power a header into the net and double their lead... -

Nottingham Rugby's struggles in the British & Irish Cup continued as they lost 38-19 away to Cornish Pirates. Defeat at Mennaye Field means the Green and Whites will definitely finish bottom of Pool 4 despite still having one game to play against the side immediately above them in the four-team group – Cardiff Blues Select. The Welsh side sit seven points above Nottingham, who have drawn one and lost four of their five pool matches this season. Their long trip to Penzance was one... -

Nottingham Post commented Nottingham Forest fan view: Lee Clarke: Perspective needed as...
Nottingham Forest stretched their unbeaten run to an impressive 11 after thumping hapless Bolton Wanderers 3-0. It was roughly 3.11pm when the game was over as a spectacle, and when Trotters keeper Ben Amos upended Jamie Ward in the penalty area to receive his marching orders, there was only ever going to be one winner. The performance of Ward is worthy of special mention and playing as a roaming playmaker in behind Nelson Oliveira was a role he seemed more than accustomed to. The ex-Derby... -

Nottingham Post published Kevin Fear: The five skills pupils should have by age 11
Kevin Fear, head teacher at Nottingham High School, looks at the five key skills he would like to see children have by the time they leave primary school. Just prior to Christmas the Education Secretary Nicky Morgan advised that the Government wants all children to know their times tables, up to 12, before they leave primary school. Whilst as a head of an independent school I do not particularly favour the Government telling schools how they should prepare their students, I do believe that... -

In Newcastle, thousands of fans of the Premier League club can, slightly bizarrely, claim a free winter coat as part of a pledge from owner and sportswear mogul Mike Ashley that he would give £2.4m worth of clothing away, if his side managed to claim victory over West Ham. After seeing his side record a landmark victory of their own, despite a pitchside temperature of around minus two degrees, Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman laughed off the suggestion that he might want to... -

DanRussell published Staffordshire bull terrier tried to catch the bus home after...
Dogs are well known for their loyalty, but one lost pooch went a step further - and tried to hop on a bus after wandering out of her family's garden. Pepper, an 11-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier waited for and jumped on a bus in Kildare Road, St Ann's, after taking itself for a walk on Friday. But Pepper couldn't afford the fare - so the driver called the city council's community protection team. They tracked down the owners with an appeal on their Facebook page and took Pepper home... -
Leigh_Curtis published Notts County match reaction: New manager drilled into us about...
Notts County defender Haydn Hollis admitted it "felt great" to end the club's away day hoodoo and secure victory in Jamie Fullarton's first game in charge. Filip Valencic's second-half stunner sealed a 1-0 win at the Checkatrade Stadium on Fullarton's managerial debut and only Notts' second league away win of the campaign. Hollis played his part in the success by producing an excellent performance at centre-back alongside Elliott Hewitt. But the product of the club's academy said... -
Leigh_Curtis published Notts County match reaction: Filip Valencic's wonder goal was...
There was a moment in the first half when a shot from Filip Valencic went so far into orbit, NASA could have classed it as an alien life form. As you would expect, it was met by ironic cheers from Crawley fans and could have easily forced the Slovenian to think twice about the next time he was in front of goal. Fortunately for Notts County, Valencic trusted his left foot again in the 63rd minute and this time the result was a beautiful debut goal. The swerve, power and accuracy of an... -
Nottingham Post published Crawley Town 0 Notts County 1: Match analysis: Filip Valencic...
Role, responsibility, organisation and structure are hardly the kind of buzzwords you would usually associate as key to being successful in football. But since his appointment as Notts County manager Jamie Fullarton has consistently used them, and after this victory you can understand why they figure so highly in his vocabulary. Not only did they help him secure a debut win as the Magpies' new commander in chief, but also led to a first clean sheet since October and only a second away... -

Healthy eating and organic food have become two pillars of 21st century lifestyles for many people – and it all starts in the kitchen. The late, great David Bowie is an influence in a Nottingham designer's latest collection, set to be showcased in a charity catwalk show. Tracy Walker finds out moreThere are a lot of similarities between David Bowie and the designers at OneBC. Both are known for their individuality and not being afraid to stand out from the crowd.
