Investors are doubling down on a trade that blew up in their faces earlier this year — here's what Morgan Stanley says they should do instead
Traders refuse to throw in the towel on the controversial short-volatility trade that's come under pressure multiple times this year.
Morgan Stanley lays out why the trade is so ill-advised, especially amid current conditions, and offers alternative solutions.Sometimes old habits die hard.

Match Group is rallying Friday after a Wall Street analyst launched coverage with a bullish price target of $66 — 28% above where shares settled Thursday.

This chart reveals a growing problem for Apple — that 'customers are getting less excited for each new generation of iPhone' (AAPL)
New iPhone models haven't sold out as quickly as they have in years past.
Citi analysts have used search trends to surmise that "customers are getting less excited for each new generation of iPhone."Apple launched the iPhone XR at 3 A.M. in the morning on Friday, and when morning came, nearly all of the models were still in stock, according to Macworld.
It's a change for Apple, which usually requires customers to wake up in the early morning to put in a pre-order if they want the new -

The $600 billion reason why China's stock market crash might get a whole lot worse
Chinese stocks have lost more than 30% of their value since the start of 2018.
Fears of a slowing economy, rising debts and the impact of US President Donald Trump's trade war have all played a role in pushing the Chinese market lower.
However, a wave of forced selling of company shares could see the market drop even more.
Hundreds of Chinese companies use their shares as collateral for loans, and are forced to sell when their share price drops below certain levels.
Analysts believe this trend i -
The secret weapon that's kept stocks afloat for the past decade is vanishing — and it's leaving the market vulnerable to the next big crash
Throughout the nearly decade-long bull market, stocks have relied on a secret weapon of sorts to keep chugging higher following periods of weakness.
One Wall Street expert warns that this ace in the hole is getting less effective, and breaks down what's causing the shift.
If the secret weapon does ultimately end up vanishing, it could send stocks plummeting. For the past decade, the Federal Reserve has had the stock market's back.
