Lidl blames outdated web pages for so-called fake farm branding
Lidl has rushed to remove outdated references to so-called fake farm branding on its website after it was quizzed by MPs on Wednesday.
The discounter’s chief commercial officer Richard Bourns denied claims it was still using the labelling to MPs on the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Efra) committee.

Matches faces further redundancies after Frasers’ IP deal
An additional 91 Matches Fashion staff members have been made redundant following Frasers Group’s intellectual property (IP) deal.
On Monday, the Sports Direct and Flannels owner said it had snapped up Matches’ IP for an undisclosed amount, however the deal did not include the company’s remaining workers or £83m of stock, Drapers reported.

Asda invests £70m in slashing the price of essentials
Asda is launching new price cuts on 126 essential items worth £70m as part of its ongoing efforts to lower prices for customers.
The supermarket’s investment sees products reduced by an average of 11%, including staple own-brand groceries such as baked beans, spaghetti loops, chicken fillets, as well as fresh fruit like strawberries and bananas.

Aldi’s market share has fallen behind where it was a year ago as shoppers head back to the traditional supermarkets for their groceries.
The latest data from NIQ shows sales at the discounter rose just 1.3% in the 12 weeks to April 20, in comparison to the 6.6% jump in sales at Sainsbury’s and 5.8% at Tesco.

Mulberry sales dip amid weak luxury demand
Mulberry saw full-year sales fall amid “challenging” macro-economic conditions and decline in luxury consumer spending, particularly during the last quarter.
The fashion retailer’s revenue dropped 4% compared to the previous year, for the year ended 30 March.

Aldi calls on the public to identify new UK store locations
Aldi has launched a new nationwide initiative to pinpoint prime locations for new store openings and is calling on the public to help.
The German discounter has asked Brits to identify which areas across the UK need a new Aldi store, with suggestions to be submitted by 31 May.
