Clarks chief executive Jonathan Ram has left the business after two years to “pursue other opportunities”.
The footwear retailer said it has formed an interim executive committee to lead the business until it finds a replacement.
Ram joined Clarks in April 2022 from US retailer HanesBrands, where he was the group president of global activewear since 2018.
Prior to that, he spent 16 years at New Balance where he was responsible for the Latin America, EMEA and North American businesses

Superdry prepares for emergency sale if creditors reject rescue plan
Superdry is preparing to run an emergency four-week sale process if creditors reject chief executive Julian Dunkerton’s restructuring plan.
According to Sky News, the struggling retailer will commence an accelerated M&A process if the plan is not approved by creditors in the coming weeks.

Data: Lidl hits record market share, as Asda nosedives
Lidl has achieved a new UK record market share hitting 8.1%, according to new data from Kantar, as Asda’s share plunged 0.8 percentage points on last year.
Kantar’s data for the 12-week period to 12 May, showed that Lidl sales rose 9.4% year-on-year fuelled by both its in-store bakery options, with freshly baked bread, cakes or pastries making it into a quarter of baskets, and its loyalty scheme, Lidl Plus, which helped boost volume sales.

Shoe Zone marginally grew profits in its half-year interim results, as it pushes ahead with a revamp of its store estate.
For the 26 weeks to 30 March, adjusted pre-tax profit at the value footwear retailer remained flat at £2.5m as it faced costs related to shipping delays, the National Living Wage rise and its store strategy.
Revenues nudged up 1.5% from the same time last year to £76.5m, having traded out of 27 fewer stores compared to 12 months ago.

Naked Wines profit plummets amid ‘challenging year’
Naked Wines has seen its profit and sales plunge in the year to April, after facing “challenging” trading conditions.
Total revenue for the year hit £290m, falling 13% year-on-year but in line with the online wine retailer’s expectations.
Adjusted EBIT also came in at around £5m which was at the upper end of guidance, but £10m less than what was reported back in 2023. However, it noted this hit the upper end of its previous expectations of £2-6m.

The Works targets return to growth after ‘year of considerable change’
The Works expects to see a return to growth in the next financial year after enduring “a year of considerable change”.
It comes as the value retailer reported flat sales of 0.9% to £282.6m and a slight 0.9% decline in like-for-likes in the 53 weeks to May 5.
The Works said that since January it had made “significant progress” on its plan to stabilise profitability by improving margins and reducing costs.

B&Q owner Kingfisher holds guidance despite weak international performance
Kingfisher has maintained its guidance for the year as improving sales in the UK and Ireland help to offset a weaker performance across its French and Polish arms.
The B&Q and Screwfix owner reported total first quarter sales edged up 0.3% to £3.3bn in the three months to 30 April. On a like-for-like basis, sales slipped 0.9%.
It comes as UK revenue grew 2.7% on a constant current basis, with both “banners growing ahead of their respective markets”.

Frasers Group eyes stake in joint venture with the Crown Estate
Frasers Group is considering taking a stake in Exeter’s Princesshay estate in what would be the first joint venture between the King’s property company and the retail giant.
The Mike Ashley majority-owned group “is the frontrunner” to acquire a 50% interest in the estate from investment firm Nuveen, The Times reported.
