Jigsaw pulls in loss as marketing investments fall short
Jigsaw swung into loss in its last financial year, as it was impacted by investments in brand marketing and people that failed to pay off.
The fashion retailer made a pre-tax loss of £3.6m from a profit of £816,000 the year before. However, sales nudged up from just over £56m to £57m over the 12 months to the end of January.

Sainsbury’s has agreed to sell its Argos credit card portfolio NewDay Group as it continues to offload its banking services.
The deal with the credit firm is expected to be worth £720m, in line with the expected net value of loan balances at the end of the first quarter next year when the deal will complete.

Ocado Group has named Adam Warby, the chair of private equity giant KKR and executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, as its new chair.

TK Maxx has unveiled its Christmas advert for 2024, featuring the return of its “Festive Farm”.

Asos launches subscription rental service with Hirestreet in biggest UK collaboration
Asos has expanded its tie-up with Hirestreet to launch a new subscription rental service for shoppers in what it dubbed “the biggest retailer-rental collaboration the UK market has seen to date”.
Hirestreet subscribers will be able to rent five garments per month for £75, and can choose from more than 20,000 Asos products.
Asos and Hirestreet have previously collaborated on a rental service, last year available across 180 of the fashion giant’s womenswear products. Relate -
Deichmann pulls in record UK sales despite ‘many challenges’ last year
Deichmann pulled in its strongest ever UK sales in 2023, despite facing “many challenges” over the year.
Revenue reached £139.1m at the footwear retailer’s UK arm, marking a 14% rise on 2022 levels.
Online sales were also up 14% for the period, as Europe’s largest shoe retailer invested additional funds into marketing to improve brand awareness.

Next ups profit outlook as cold weather helps sales soar
Next upped its profit guidance for the year again as sales jumped in its third quarter due to the early cold snap.
Sales at the chain rose 7.6% from last year for the 13 weeks to 26 October, 2.6% above its guidance for the quarter.
Next said the performance was driven by the early arrival of colder weather this year, versus an unusually warm September and early October last year.
